There is a great number of procedures and technologies which have to be evaluated. Decisions in the health sector are to be made on the basis of scientific findings, which means they have to be evidence-based. Only through a process of systematically evaluating health relevant procedures and technologies with relation to the health care of the population rational decisions can be made.
